Manchester United's pursuit of Carlos Baleba appears to have stalled for the time being in what is perhaps a wise move for the club as the summer deadline ends.

If Baleba had been a target for the Old Trafford giants in June they could have perhaps afforded themselves more time to negotiate with Brighton. As it has turned out, the actual focus has been to add to their attack, particularly considering that the club's strikers were so blunt last season.

It has been well documented that the Seagulls wanted at least £100million for Baleba and, crucially, they were not willing to sell him this summer. As such, The Manchester Evening News reported on Friday that United were happy to wait until next year to sign Baleba .
