CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A man is dead after Cleveland Fire pulled him out of a car submerged in the water at the East 9th Street Pier early Sunday morning.
The Cleveland Fire Department responded to the pier around 2:43 a.m. for a car about 100 feet offshore, submerged with the real tail lights visible.
Cleveland Fire deployed two divers from the pier who swam to the car.
Divers used forcible entry tools to access the vehicle and pulled a man from the car.
Cleveland Fire’s Marine 21 began CPR and assisted with getting him to dry land.
Cleveland EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene, Cleveland Fire said.
Cleveland Fire performed a second dive to check for additional victims and reported that the car was clear.
