QUINCY (WGEM) - After 65 years, a historic Quincy sign is getting a facelift.

Crews from Century Signs began taking down the iconic ‘Time For Pepsi’ clock and sign at 12th and Locust Friday morning.

They will be replacing the sign’s neon bulbs with LED bulbs, fixing the clock and painting the sign.

“Just refreshing the look. So, to stay only in spec, just the way it was designed. We’re just going to freshen it up, get the clock working and not malfunctioning. It should have some pop to it with the LEDs, but it will look exactly like it did, hopefully this all goes well or goes to plan exactly like it did when it was made, maybe even a little brighter if anything,” said Scott Ruffner, Refreshment Services Pepsi General Manager.

The sign has been a fixture in the area since 1960.
