HANNIBAL (WGEM) - The higher temperatures are causing adoption rates at the Northeast Missouri Humane Society to slow down.

Over the last two months, only 45 animals have been adopted at the shelter.

The shelter has been in the position where they have been accepting more animals than are getting adopted.

They are a no-kill shelter, so now the shelter is freezing their intake and will not be accepting more animals until the emergency is resolved.
