The coffee industry in New Mexico and across the country was already in crisis when President Donald Trump’s second term began, owners of a prominent local roaster told U.S. Sen. Ben Ray Luján when he visited their Albuquerque headquarters Tuesday.

A sudden 50% import tax on one of their biggest suppliers is making business much more chaotic, and consumers of all types can expect prices to continue to increase in the months and years to come, Rachel Langer, coffee director at Red Rock Roasters, told Source New Mexico.
