North Carolina state leaders voted to raise health insurance premiums next year for state workers, that includes teachers.
Now, the North Carolina Association of Education is putting that decision on blast.
In a statement, the association says “this premium increase is a pay cut.”
The legislature still hasn’t passed a budget. No raises, no cost of living adjustment.
Right now, school employees will take home less this school year than the year before.
The State Health Plan Board of Trustees says the increase is necessary because cash reserves used to keep premiums flat the last several years have nearly run out.
