As the Sunset Fire continues to burn in southern Bonner County, community members have asked how they can help the many volunteer and paid firefighters now in the region.

"Most of the food is covered by caterers but there is a need for comfort and prepackaged items," said Brandon Vaccaro, public information officer for Selkirk Fire.

Requested items include baby wipes, bottled water, Gatorade in bottles or powdered form, tube socks, eye drops, ChapStick, candy (such as M&Ms) and pre-packed treats.

The Sandpoint and Ponderay Centennial Rotary clubs are teaming up with Northwest Auto Body to organize drop off locations for these items and are working with Selkirk Fire to coordinate distribution.
