Devotees Nepal are celebrating the festival of Janmashtami Saturday, marking the birth of Krishna, the popular Hindu god who is a symbol of love, compassion and harmony.

People offer prayers in Krishna temples and sing and dance.

In many cities, the festival is marked by the traditional breaking of an earthen pot filled with curd, after climbing on top of a human pyramid.
