RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Raleigh police officer is recovering after being involved in a crash.

At 3:35 a.m., the officer responded to reported vehicle break ins on Thistlebrook Court.

When the officer arrived they saw a suspect and their vehicle.

The suspect ran from the scene and in the process hit the police SUV, according to RPD.

The officer driving the SUV received minor injuries in the crash.

The suspect in the case has not been taken into custody.

As a precaution, the officer was taken to WakeMed and was released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Raleigh police.
