Councillors clashed over renaming a vital plan from net zero with a leading councillor highlighting some residents saw it as a “toxic” term.

A Solihull Council board meeting held a lengthy debate on the name change with it eventually having to be settled on vote of councillors.

In 2021 the authority agreed a Net Zero Action Plan (NZAP) setting out a wide range of actions it could take to support Solihull becoming a net zero borough by 2041.
