BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Happy Saturday!

We had some patchy fog develop earlier this morning, but the fog has dissipated, and we are enjoying plenty of sunshine. Temperatures are warming up quickly this morning with most of us in the mid to upper 80s shortly before noon.

A few clouds will likely develop this afternoon giving way to a low chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Any storm that develops today has the potential to be strong with heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. I think the biggest story about today is the heat. Temperatures are forecast to warm into the low to mid 90s.

The heat index will likely climb between 98°F-103°F for most of central Alabama this afternoon. It may end up hotter in far west Alabama where a Heat Advisory has been issued.
