PHILADELPHIA — "Unlikely" has officially become "out" for Shedeur Sanders.

The Browns rookie quarterback will not be able to build off his first NFL preseason performance due to an oblique strain . The team announced 90 minutes before kickoff as one of several players not expected to play in the second preseason game Aug. 16 at the Philadelphia Eagles .

About 100 minutes or so before the game, Sanders was on the field doing some of his usual pregame stretching/warmup routine. He also spent some time talking to Joe Flacco.

Sanders, the fifth-round pick out of the University of Colorado, suffered the injury early in the Browns' first joint practice with the Eagles on Aug. 13. He suffered the injury during early throwing, and was shut down for the rest of practice, including all se
