PHILADELPHIA — Dillon Gabriel made his Cleveland Browns starting debut on Aug. 16. It was in a preseason game at the Philadelphia Eagles , but it still marked his first NFL game starting at quarterback.
Gabriel, the third-round pick in April's draft, led the Browns to a scoring drive on his first possession. He gave the Eagles a touchdown on his second with a 75-yard interception return by Philadelphia safety Andrew Mukuba.
The former six-year college quarterback at Central Florida, Oklahoma and Oregon had been a question mark to play until coach Kevin Stefanski made it official hours before kickoff. Gabriel was back as a full practice participant during the week, including two joint practices with the Eagles, after having been limited the previous week with hamstring tightness.
