It's the start of a new Premier League season, and the beginning of a new era for Match of the Day, with long-time host Gary Lineker no longer in the presenter's chair and his Rochdale-born Manchester Grammar school successor Mark Chapman now fronting the iconic footie highlights show.

Former England striker Lineker hosted the iconic highlights show for 26 years, but announced last year that he would be stepping away from the role at the end of the 2024/25 season. He had been scheduled to continue presenting the BBC's live FA Cup broadcasts, and front coverage of next year's FIFA World Cup, but he has now left the broadcaster for good.
