JASPER, Texas — Scammers are impersonating Jasper County Sheriff's Office deputies in fraudulent phone calls, officials warned after receiving multiple reports from victims.

Sheriff Chuck Havard said the calls are invalid and part of an ongoing scam targeting residents.

The sheriff's office warned people not to provide personal or financial information to the callers.

Officials advised residents to hang up immediately if they receive such calls.

Anyone who receives suspicious calls should report them to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office at (409) 384-5417 or contact Sheriff Havard directly at (409) 289-5966.
