AUSTINTOWN - A group of volunteers gathered Saturday to prepare the 9/11 Memorial Park in Austintown for its upcoming ceremony.

Landscaping mulch was spread, weeds were plucked and trees were trimmed in preparation for its annual event.

In order to maintain the park's beauty, a volunteer-based committee along with community volunteers comes and helps restore its landscapes throughout the year.

The mulch that was laid on Saturday were all generously given by donations.

Kate Guzzo, the secretary and treasurer of the Memorial Park says a new project will be appearing soon on the south end of the property.

It will be a walk-through museum thanks to grant funding, and is expected to be built and completed by the 2026 9/11 ceremony.
