OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Nationwide, there are about 90,000 people who are waiting for a kidney transplant.

Last year, Nebraska Medicine performed 188 of those life-saving surgeries.

First Alert 6 spoke with an Omaha resident who has been waiting close to a decade to find a match and get a new kidney.

Charles Legone is a security officer at Nebraska Medicine.

For six years, Charles was a kidney transplant success story.

But after six years, his transplanted kidney lived out its use, and once again Charles had to deal with kidney failure.
