An anesthesiologist recruited by Niagara Health remains in immigration limbo, two months after Premier Doug Ford said he could expedite the doctor’s case “probably within a week or so.”
St. Catharines MPP Jennie Stevens said the situation has not changed for the doctor, who has asked not to be identified.
The doctor contacted her office earlier this year, concerned about delays and uncertainty he faced in being granted permanent resident status through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program, a provincial program that allows the province to nominate individuals for permanent residence in Canada.
