SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A local scholarship committee is giving back to the youth to honor the memory of a man who inspired many.

Saturday was a day of fun and fellowship at the fifth annual Kamari B. Williams Memorial Golf Tournament. Kamari Buddy Williams was the youngest son of State Representative Bud Williams and Doctor Gloria B. Williams, who passed away in 2020.

"He was a teacher, mentor, father, role model, counselor in the city of Springfield who cared about young people," Representative Williams said.

Kamari was also an avid golfer who started playing the sport at the age of 14 at Veterans Memorial Golf Course in Springfield. To keep his legacy alive, his parents and members of the Kamari B. Williams Scholarship Committee host a scholarship golf tournament every year to gi
