Middletown was rocking on the afternoon of Aug. 16 to celebrate the peach.

Thousands flooded Middletown's Main Street for the Middletown Olde Tyme Peach Festival, a tradition that lines up with peach harvest season. It's been going since 1993 and has welcomed families from the Middletown-Odessa-Townsend area and beyond since then.

Some 10,000 peaches were shipped into the festival and sold in orange reusable bags of six to 12 peaches. I bought a bag of six, and the volunteer told me they came from right down the road at Fifer's Farm in the Camden-Wyoming area. The peach table was situated near a concert stage and was the only stand selling the actual fruit.
