The Los Angeles Dodgers win the weekend series after securing a second consecutive victory over the San Diego Padres.

With their 6-0 victory Saturday, the Dodgers have regained sole possession of first place in the National League West. The Dodgers improve to 70-53 this season while the Padres fall to 69-54.

Los Angeles benefited from a second consecutive night of solid pitching from its starter. Blake Snell went six innings against the Padres, allowing five hits and walking two. The pitcher struck out three batters. It was the Dodgers' sixth shutout of the season.

Teoscar Hernández impacted the game with his offense, hitting a home run in the fifth inning. He also brought in Shohei Ohtani with a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

The series finale is Sunday.

The Dodgers own the tiebreaker over the Padres if it were necessary later in the season. Los Angeles has won seven of the first nine meetings in the season series.
