The 12th annual "Montana Ride to Remember" was held Saturday, beginning at the Lewis and Clark County Veterans Memorial Park in Helena and ending in West Yellowstone.
Nearly 160 riders participated this year.
Sponsored by the Montana POW/MIA Awareness Association, this motorcycle ride honors the nation’s fallen military service members missing in action (MIA) or prisoners of war (POW). Of the 82,000 soldiers honored, 53 were from Montana.
The ride includes 183 miles on U.S. Highway 287 and was to end at the West Yellowstone Pioneer Park. It was dedicated as the POW/MIA Memorial Highway by then-Gov. Steve Bullock in 2014.
It will be led by a “missing man formation” of five riders, where one spot is left empty to represent a fallen soldier. This will be followed by riders holding dog tag
