Woman Allegedly Forges Deceased Voter’s Name on Petition for Pot Amendment
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the arrest of Alexandria Mary Beatrice Tatem, a registered petition circulator, on a felony perjury charge after she allegedly submitted a petition with a signature from a deceased voter. The move, according to Uthmeier, underscores the state’s fierce commitment to protecting the integrity of its elections.
The arrest is the result of a joint investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Office of Executive Investigations and the Elections Crime Unit. Tatem is charged with Perjury by False Written Declaration, a third-degree felony that carries a potential sentence of up to five years in prison.
