STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Hot and steamy weather on Friday didn’t stop high school athletes from getting an early start preparing for their upcoming seasons.

On Clinton Avenue in New Brighton, the St. Peter’s Boys High School football team was on the field running drills and perfecting their skills.
