While recovering from an injury earlier this season, Duke Ellis used that time to also heal some aspects of his game. Whatever he did, it has been working.
In Ellis’ last 17 games — three in July, 14 in August — the speedy Scranton/Wilkes-Barre outfielder has hit safely in 14 of them, batting .509 (28 for 55) with nine doubles, two home runs, 16 runs and seven RBIs. He has had multiple hits in 10 of those games, including a four-hit performance July 25th at Rochester.
“Just small adjustments as the plate,” Ellis said. “I’ve tried to simplify a lot of things than what I was doing before my surgery. I told myself to just put it together; whatever happens, happens. Good, bad, awesome, whatever. It’s kind of freed me up to do the things I’ve been doing.”
