A New York driver struck and killed a construction worker in Greenwich, Conn., in the early hours of Saturday, officials said.

The work zone crash occurred on I-95 North near Exit 3 just before 2:30 a.m.

Traymont Tucker, 38, of Waterbury, was working within the construction zone when a Dodge Durango veered into the area and struck him, state troopers said in an accident information summary.

Tucker, who was working as a private construction worker, was pronounced dead at the scene just before 3 a.m., officials said.

The driver, 38-year-old Osvaldo Vela, of Yonkers, N.Y., reported minor injuries and was taken to Stamford Hospital by Greenwich EMS personnel.
