Police including armed cops swooped on a town after reports that a man who was believed to have a knife was 'behaving aggressively' in a park.

Police and paramedics were scrambled initially to Victoria Park in Denton , Tameside , at 6.40pm on Saturday (August 16, 2025). Officers tracked down a bare-chested suspect nearby at the junction of Ashton Road and Hyde Road.

Video from the scene showed armed cops in attendance and also a suspect in the rear of a police van. A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police later confirmed that a 30-year-old man was detained and transported to hospital for assessment.
