WALLINGFORD, CT (WFSB) - Several firefighters were injured after a car rear-ended a firetruck in Wallingford.
According to the Wallingford Fire Department, the firetruck was blocking the right lane of I-91 North near exit 14 while crews worked on a van fire.
“During this blocking operation, Engine 8 was rear-ended by a mid-sized SUV causing heavy damage to that vehicle and minor damage to the fire apparatus,” Fire Chief James Buck wrote in a statement.
Chief Buck said the crew in the firetruck was minorly injured. One firefighter was brought to the hospital to be evaluated.
The driver of the SUV was hospitalized with unknown injuries.
State police are investigating this incident.
