MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The trial for Hernandez Govan is scheduled to begin on Monday.

He is, what prosecutors say, the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Memphis rapper Young Dolph.

Govan’s trial wraps up a case, which started in November 2021 when bullets riddled Makeda’s Cookies on Airways Boulevard while Young Dolph was inside, killing him.

Govan’s alleged role in the plan to kill Memphis Rapper Young Dolph was shared by Cornelius Smith, one of the men who says he shot and killed Dolph alongside Justin Johnson.

Johnson was convicted of murder and is currently serving a life sentence.

During Johnson’s trial, Smith testified that Govan told him about a $100,000 hit on Young Dolph put out by Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, the now deceased brother of Memphis rapper Yo Gotti .
