It's shaping up to be a very active weather weekend here in the Upper Mississippi River Valley.

We're kicking things off with summer heat. Temperatures will make it into the upper 80s, but it's the heat index that's concerning, potentially reaching between 90 and 105 degrees. This is warm enough that a Heat Advisory has been issued for counties in northeast Iowa this afternoon until 8 PM, so please remember to stay hydrated and take precautions if you'll be outdoors.

As we move into tonight and through Sunday, the focus shifts significantly to heavy rainfall. We expect periodic storms capable of producing heavy rain, with higher confidence for this activity overnight through Sunday morning, and again Sunday night into Monday morning.
