A Chatham man is feeling a lot better about his future now that he’s living in one of the 50 transitional cabins that have opened in Chatham to help transition homeless people into permanent housing.

“It’s definitely relief to have your own sleeping quarters,” said Mike, not his real name, who agreed to speak with The Chatham Daily News as long as he maintained his anonymity.

Previously living at the Victoria Park Place emergency shelter on Murray Street, which is set to close on Wednesday, Mike is among the first group of people to move into the new cabin compound, named Pathways on Park, located the corner of Park Street and Hyslop Street.
