PORTLAND, Maine — A Westbrook woman on an electric scooter struck a car after going the wrong way in a bike lane in Portland Saturday morning.

At 9:42 a.m., Portland police received reports of a crash on Warren Avenue involving a car and electric scooter, according to authorities.

Witnesses said the 55-year-old woman was going the opposite way in the bike lane when she crashed into the side of a 19-year-old Gorham resident's car pulling out of a Wendy's parking lot. Authorities said no charges have been filed.

The woman was taken to Maine Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Warren Avenue was closed for two hours during this incident.
