Celebrating Families hosts back-to-school clothing drive

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Each year, the Celebrating Families back-to-school fair helps families get their children ready for the school year with a giveaway of socks and underwear.

This was the 25th annual giveaway, with the event celebrating every child and family they’ve been able to help over the past quarter century.

Event organizers estimated that they’ve helped over 25,000 children over the years have the clothing they need.

“As a prevention specialist and an addiction counselor, I realize that when kids feel like they’re part of a community, and have that sense of belonging, and feel like they’re part of what the school offers, they’re much more likely to be a part of that when they feel prepared,” said Darcy Jensen with Celebrating Families.
