NEW ORLEANS — State Representative Jason Hughes is donating $600,000 to upgrade Joe Brown Memorial Park in New Orleans East.

The donation comes just in time for the football season Jamboree, which brings thousands of kids together for games this weekend.

"Not only is today a great day as it relates to the the games that's going on in the Jamboree and we have thousands of kids that's playing this weekend," said NORD CEO Larry Barabino Jr. "Also, we're receiving a $600,000 check from State Representative Jason Hughes."

Explaining the motivation behind his donation to Joe Brown Memorial Park, Rep. Jason Hughes emphasized the importance of supporting the community.

Some of the donation will also go towards upgrades at other NORD parks in New Orleans East.
