VINTON, La. — 37-year-old Matthew Vincent of Vinton was arrested after multiple vehicles struck a construction crane in a work zone on I-10 near La. Highway 108 early Saturday morning.

Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to the scene around 5:30 a.m.

The initial investigation revealed the crane was in the median, with cables hanging over the westbound lanes. A passing vehicle struck the cables, and three more crashes followed.

The collisions caused two injuries, major damage to the crane and significant property damage, and forced a prolonged I-10 closure. Troopers said construction crews were not working and the crane was not being operated at the time.
