Hood College first-year, transfer students get 'dinked' in decades

A sea of red and scattered flecks of blue, green and yellow filled Hood College's Hodson Auditorium on Saturday, as the college celebrated its decades-old tradition: the Dinking Ceremony.

A "dink" is a circular hat that returning students known as peer mentors place on the heads of the incoming class. The color a student receives — red, blue, green or yellow — is based on their class.
