Maine State Police have released a number of new details about the seemingly random fatal shooting that occurred Friday on Route 302 in Windham, Maine , and prompted a shelter-in-place into the evening.

Windham police were notified around 1:55 p.m. Friday of a shooting at the intersection of Roosevelt Trail (Route 302) and Landing Road, where witnesses reported that a man on a motorcycle had been shot, state police said.

Witnesses, as well as a Maine Game Warden who happened to be in the area, performed life-saving measures on the motorcyclist, but he was eventually pronounced dead on scene from his injuries, according to police, who have identified the victim as 33-year-old Erin Hayne, of Casco.
