FARGO — Tommy Horan was in the nearby lakes area Saturday morning when he received a call from Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks manager Chris Coste.

By the afternoon, the former Concordia Cobbers shortstop was at Newman Outdoor Field. The American Association baseball team signed Horan, who will likely remain with the team for a couple games.

“I think the first words I said were ‘Are you serious?’ … and it was,” Horan said before Saturday night's game against the Cleburne Railroaders. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It’s a dream come true.”

In his professional debut Saturday, Horan started as second base and batted ninth in the batting order.
