ADA, Minn. — A rural northwest county has settled a lawsuit that alleged it retaliated against a crimes victim advocate for claims that the Sheriff’s Office and prosecutors didn’t do enough to protect victims.

Minnesota U.S. District Court Judge Eric Tostrud signed an order Tuesday, Aug. 12, to dismiss Heather Frost’s case against Norman County. The county agreed at its Aug. 5 meeting to pay Frost a settlement, Frost’s attorney Christopher Wachtler said.

The amount was not disclosed in court documents, and Wachtler said he felt the county should provide that information. Messages left for Norman County Coordinator Jesse Keller and County Attorney Elizabeth Brainard were not returned by publishing time.
