NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Multiple people have been displaced after a fire at an apartment complex in Bellevue on Saturday morning, according to Nashville Fire Department District 19 Chief Aaron Sparkman.

Sparkman said NFD crews responded to the Slate Apartments at 7439 Highway 70 South at around 10 a.m. for reports of an appliance fire.

Resident Elvyn Agboto who lives in the buildings told WSMV crews he woke up as smoke was filling his room.

“I thought I was dreaming,” he said. “I was just asleep. I saw a bunch of black smoke coming out from my vents, so I just ran downstairs. Couldn’t grab my phone, glasses, keys, anything.”
