BARTONVILLE, Ill (WMBD) -- History in the making at Peoria Motorcycle Club as the American Flat Track motorcycle racing series returned for its 78th consecutive year Saturday.

Peoria TT at Peoria Motorcycle Club in Bartonville has been in operation since 1931 and has hosted the American Flat Track TT racing series since 1947.

Peoria Motorcycle Club Board member, Stann Wiebler, said that this year stands out because of the number of racers that came out to compete.

"There's so much history at this track, it's pretty phenomenal to even think about," Wiebler said. "We had a lot going on today, but our biggest thing is we got a full field of racers for the first time in a lot of years, so we're working hard to try to bring the races back and keep it at a national level."
