For the first time in the 13 years their son has been flying Air Force jets, Capt. Tim Wilson’s parents finally got to see him fly Wednesday as he took the controls of a C-17 Globemaster military transport jet.
They got another chance Saturday at the Chicago Air and Water Show, and will again as their son does a flyover during the Cubs-Pirates game Sunday. That flight has special meaning to the family because his parents met at a Cubs-Pirates game nearly 35 years ago.
The Lake Forest High School graduate has flown in more than 45 countries, living up to the dream he set for himself in a comic he drew at 6 years old — which his mother, of course, saved. However, he’s never flown in Chicago.
