BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The dangerous heat this weekend is forcing everyone to crank up the air conditioning.
While we all want to stay cool, we all can’t afford the more expensive bill. That’s why Alabama Power has Project SHARE . It’s a program that helps low-income customers who are either disabled or 60 and older pay their bills.
Anthony Cook with Alabama Power says the project began 42 years ago as a partnership with Salvation Army.
During those four decades, over $42 million in assistance has helped more than 412,000 customers.
