SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church’s Outreach Ministry held its 5th annual backpack giveaway Saturday, Aug. 16.

The church, which is located at 1400 Pierce St., gave out 250 backpacks filled with school supplies to children in the community.

The backpacks were part of a donation from Scheels and Angelo James State Farm Agent.

Donna Eye, the Outreach Ministry Lead for Mount Zion, says the outreach ministry looks to bring people together to help serve the needs of the surrounding community.

“We are better together,” said Eye. “It takes every single person. It takes a village to really put all of this together and make it work, to embrace the community that is in need.”

The event also included face painting and balloon animals for the children.
