With three weeks of practice in the books, Army football coach Jeff Monken said his team is exactly where he thought it would be.

“I like where we’re at right now,’’ Monken said following the Black Knights ’ second scripted scrimmage of the preseason on a hot and humid Saturday at Michie Stadium. “We’re not ready to play a game yet,’’ he cautioned.

Army should have five practices ahead of the third intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 23, six days prior to its home opener with Tarleton State. Monken said his three-deep roster is just about finalized, and he plans to practice a lot of situational plays over the next week, including onside kicks, sudden changes and Hail Mary passes.
