It’s one down, four wins to go for Irmo Little League to claim the Little League Baseball World Series title.

The Southeast Region champions opened play Wednesday in Williamsport, Penn. with a dominant 13-0 win in four innings over New England Region champion Braintree American.

Starting pitcher Joe Giulietti was the story of the game. He struck out eight batters, including six in succession, in 3 ⅓ scoreless innings.

The player they call ‘Big Tex’ also provided a large chunk of the scoring with one swing. Irmo loaded the bases in the Bottom 2nd when Giulietti cleared them with a grand slam over the center field wall.
