LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — At a safety class Saturday, runners stood still to hear an official speak about ways to stay safe while doing what they love.

Bill Torrey, owner of Rock City Running, has been a runner for 45 years. But even he learned some new advice today when it comes to keeping himself protected while out on a run.

"If you're sweaty enough, you can fall to the ground and slip out of their arms. You can slam on their foot with your foot,” Torrey said.

This safety training event was held ahead of Little Rock’s marathon, which brings thousands of people into the Natural State. Torrey said he's hoping some of the new faces today plan on sticking around and getting involved in the city's running clubs.
