BEEBE, Ark. — An Arkansas man has now been arrested and charged in connection to the death of an elderly woman in Beebe.

According to reports, just before 6:00 p.m., officers with the Beebe Police Department were called to a home on Kamak Drive with reports of a shooting.

Once officers arrived, they found an 82-year-old woman who had sustained several gunshot wounds to her head, and the White County Coroner's Office pronounced her dead while still at the scene.

Police have since taken 51-year-old Christopher Michael Barber, who is the son of the victim, into custody. He has been booked into the White County Detention Center on a capital murder charge.

Barber is being held without bond pending his first appearance in court.
