GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Gainesville city leaders are looking to partner with barbers to prevent heart attacks.

They’re launching the Fresh Fades and Healthy Hearts initiative.

Their goal is to put cardiovascular screening stations into neighborhood barbershops.

So people can get health check-ups in a place where residents feel comfortable.

They’re planning to recruit 5 to 10 barbershops, and it’s all funded by a grant from the Coverys Community Healthcare Foundation.
