LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Days after a woman was fatally shot while walking her child to the bus stop , Jefferson County Public Schools’ new superintendent discussed bus stop safety during a weekend forum.
The recent shooting near Coleridge Taylor Elementary on 10th and West Chestnut Street have been a concern for families and students.
Superintendent Brian Yearwood held his Community Conversation at Louisville Male High School on Saturday, and safety was at the top of the minds of those in attendance.
He said JCPS is looking at ways to monitor certain stops that have been proven to be more “difficult” and plans to work with Metro Police in the future.
“It’s a sad day when we have to even monitor a bus stop,” Yearwood said. “The bus stop should be a safe place – a safe zone for kids to gathe
